Tips for the effective use of stretch film.
- Use appropriate amount of stretch film
- Select the appropriate type of stretch film
- Make sure products are clean and dry
- Apply stretch film evenly
- Using appropriate equipment
- Store stretch wrap properly
Use appropriate amount of stretch film
To determine the appropriate amount of stretch film to use, the size, weight and fragility of the products being packaged must be taken into account. Using too little stretch film may cause the products to shift during transport and be damaged. Using too much foil can increase shipping costs and cause unnecessary wear and tear. The general rule is to use 2-3 turns of stretch foil for every 10 cm of product height.
Select the appropriate type of stretch film
Various types of stretch films are available, such as stretch wrap poured and blown. Cast film is typically quieter and clearer than blown film and is suitable for light to medium applications. Blown stretch film is tougher and puncture-resistant than cast stretch film and is suitable for heavier or sharp-edged products. When choosing the right type of stretch film, you should consider your specific application and packaging needs.

Make sure products are clean and dry
Before applying stretch film, ensure that the products are clean and dry. Moisture or contamination can affect the adhesion of stretch film, resulting in poor packaging. If the products are wet or dirty, use a dry cloth to clean them before applying the film.
Apply stretch film evenly
To ensure there are no weak spots in the package, apply stretch film evenly around the products. Avoid applying too much or too little pressure to the foil as this may result in uneven wrapping. Start at the bottom of the product and wrap upwards, applying enough tension to keep the wrap taut, but not so much that you damage the product.
Using appropriate equipment
Such as a stretch film dispenser, can help ensure that the film is applied evenly and easily. This can help you save time and improve packaging quality. Consider purchasing a dispenser if you regularly use foil.
Store stretch wrap properly
Store stretch film in a cool, dry place, away from direct sunlight and heat sources. Exposure to heat or sunlight may degrade the film and affect its performance. Avoid storing the film near sharp or abrasive materials that could damage it.
